Blackened Tilapia

I am obsessed with watching the Olympics. It is so exciting to watch. I usually don’t like watching sports. Anthony loves sportscenter and I really just am not a fan. I like football in the fall, but that’s about it. But call it the Olympics and I want to watch it. I have watched every sport so far and I am super into it. I guess because it only comes once every few years and it’s so freaking exciting. Last week for the opening ceremony, I bought really expensive beer and really expensive sheeps milk cheese while I watched. Amazing.

And as you may know I don’t like fish, but since I love the Olympics I was nice to Anthony and let him make fish. I have to say that I tried the fish this time and I actually liked it. The blackened flavor masks the fishy taste, so if you don’t like fish this may be a good way to appease your husband and try it.


Blackened Tilapia

Yields – 2 servings

Prep time – 10 minutes

Cook time – 8 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 TBSP paprika
  • 1 TBSP onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 lb of tilapia
  • 1 TBSP oil for frying

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl mix all your spices together. Coat the fish fully with the spices.
  2. Heat a frying pan over medium high and add the vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot add the fish and cook about 4 minutes on each side until the fish is flaky.
